Want to pick your own wild mustang from the BLM or USFS corrals, but you have no idea where to start? Training board at RAMS may be the right option for you.

Through this program, you adopts a mustang from the USFS or BLM and arrange for your horse’s transportation to RAMS. USFS horses from Double Devil Wild Horse Corrals may be eligible for free transport to the RAMS facility!

Upon their arrival, your horse enters our 5-day per week gentling and training program for a minimum of 60 days or until you are comfortable and confident handling your horse. Training board includes a personalized feeding program and a first trim of all four feet. We do not currently offer saddle starting, but we are happy to lunge, ground drive, saddle, and put a couple of sits on! We find this is usually the best stage of training for the adopter to take their horse home, get to know each other, and get ready for saddle starting on their own timeline.

RAMS also offers consultation and guidance throughout the adoption and training process, including:

  • Assistance with applications to the appropriate federal agency
  • Evaluation and selection of the right feral mustang for your horsemanship skill level and long-term goals
  • A standing invitation to visit the facility, observe training, and get to know your horse hands-on.

Selecting a feral mustang from a few photos and less than a minute of video can be daunting, but we’ve gotten pretty good at it! Let us help you find your dream horse and bring them home.
